Infinity I-China Donates a Combined First Wave of 100,000 RMB to Select Organizations in China in Honor of Israel’s 61st Anniversary

May. 12, 2009

Tel Aviv, Israel and Shanghai, China, May 12, 2009 ---Infinity I-China, the largest Israel-China fund and the second Israel-China fund of the Infinity Group, celebrated Israel’s 61st anniversary today by announcing a collective contribution of 100,000 RMB to select organizations throughout China including in Chengdu, Suzhou and Shanghai. The first endowment, a gift of 14,000 RMB was donated to the Hongkou Children’s Home, a special school for disabled, autistic and hearing impaired children in the Hongkou district of Shanghai. The recipients of Infinity’s other charitable contributions, within this first of a series of donations, will be announced in future communications.

The contribution to the Hongkou Children’s Home was used to help purchase a special educational and therapeutic system and the corresponding software for the special needs children attending the school. The new system, along with a special plaque was presented to the Hongkou Children’s Home in a special ceremony at the school today. The donation was organized by the Consulate General of Israel to Shanghai in cooperation with the government of Shanghai, FAO and the district government of Hongkou.

Amir Gal-Or, managing partner of the Infinity Group and Infinity I-China said, “The Chinese and the Jewish people share a long and culturally rich history that began centuries ago in the city of Kaifeng. Throughout the years, the feelings of mutual respect have strengthened and grown and have endured even the darkest hours of WWII, when the Chinese people in such cities as Harbin and Shanghai, gave refuge to those who fled Nazi Europe. Today, the Jewish people have the honor of bringing this relationship full circle by exercising the opportunity to return this respect and further strengthen the bond by means of word, gesture and deed. Infinity’s participation in the donation of the system to the school, its latest in a series of contributions to the city of Shanghai, is a demonstration of the fund’s continuing and deep routed commitment to its partnership with China and its leaders.”

Among other previous charitable contributions, in June 2007, Infinity participated in a group donation to support the Elders Activity Center, also in Hongkou. The donation was meant to directly thank and show appreciation to those in Shanghai who had helped absorb Jews during WWII.
